• Thursday

    • Private work.
    • Atithi indian, wburg.
    • Diving reflex: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diving_reflex. Water on your face/nostrils triggers circulation/oxygen to heart/brain and you can hold breath longer (physiologically).
    • Ducati. Remember 3 potential changes, all aesthetic after maintenance: thermochromic paint on the exhaust pipes, red rear shock, red chain. Might do later. Esp chain, since I’ll definitely replace <=15k mi.
    • Still having apex issues. Fusion won’t connect (reboot everything) and AOS update says it succeeds but does not actually update. Tried from browser (fusion) (instead of mobile) and it failed as well.
  • Wednesday

    • Private work.
    • The only state whose name can be typed on a single keyboard row is … Alaska.
    • Incredible game from Magnus/Vishy today. Best in months for context, endgame, more. Also Pragg has won 6 of 7.
    • Ducati.
      • Remember that scoring on discs (almost always from brake pad wearing down, so it’s metal on metal instead of frictional material) will usually flatten out over time. The rotor will get evened by the new brake pad. The only swap criteria is min thickness.
      • Pads were >40thou, rotors were >60thou. No topoff needed, fluid is between min/max. No bleed needed, no sponginess.
      • Washed the bike.
      • Filled both tires to 42psi.
    • Barrio Chino.
  • Tuesday

    • Private work.
    • Firedancer validator client for solana (from jump).
    • Dark vs light meat (or red vs white) is from myoglobin, which energizes more with oxygen than glycogen. More myoglobin = slow twitch = consistent energy = dark/red.
    • Some planning for bay trip. Saul/Ruth wedding, RSVP, registry. Booked flights, 1 week.
    • Ducati.
      • Checked on items for maintenance, I already had: hydraulic fluid, coolant, oil, replacement air filter, air filter cleaning kit. Ordered new: coolant, oil, oil filter.
      • If brake/clutch fluid is sealed, it lasts years. Don’t use an opened one, it will absorb moisture. Mine was ordered in 2016, but still unopened.
      • Coolant lasts a few years too. Mine was ordered in 2017. Too old.
      • 3 sessions left: tires and wash tomorrow, coolant + air filter another day, oil change and brakes the final day.
    • Saw & Juliet on broadway.
  • Monday

    • Private work.
    • Fighter pay in 2022 was apparently 13% of UFC revenue: https://twitter.com/heynottheface/status/1673118501547155457
    • Dodgeball, bocce, and kickball ended. In total I went to 1/3/1 games, was poorly timed with vacation and back stuff.
    • Ducati maintenance: checked clutch fluid level and chain tension. All good. A little above 4cm of motion. Will probably replace chain @15k miles or a little before.
      • The coolant meter is accessible (behind front forks, left of air inlet), but too cloudy to read. Bad design. Will take fairings off and check later.
    • A few seeds for stevia, bean, chamomile weren’t srouting (6 of 56). Replaced with sage, basil, beet.
    • Mealprep.
    • Aquarium maintenance.
    • Read a lot of Behave.
  • Thursday

    • Private work.
    • Some rewards tasks for rise gardens.
    • Updated to macos to venture 13.4.1 and ios to 16.5.1.
    • Lindsay/Reetu/Teague in town.
    • 8sleep active grid cover replacement will ship soon. The v2 is out of stock in cali king, so they’re sending me the new v3, nice. I think it’s quieter and more comfortable.
      • Then return defective cover (pickup on 6/30, next friday).
      • Looks like the newer versions of 8sleep and Oura and such use subscription models, annoying. I’ve stayed grandfathered into the old plans with no recurring cost. We’ll see how long that lasts before forced upgrade.
    • Both online disputes of the tickets were denied. You can then fill out an application to appeal the decision: https://www.nyc.gov/assets/finance/downloads/pdf/adjudication/pvo-0100.pdf. You have to mail it in, and you incur interest/penalties while waiting for the verdict. Not worth it. Paid both via the mobile app.
    • Some research on hiddenroad.
    • Updated linkedin and resume for the first time in years.
    • Aerial yoga.
  • Wednesday

    • Private work.
    • Registered/scheduled dentist.
    • NYC parking tax exemption approved. Monthly rate for the ducati is now $147.90. Very good for manhattan.
    • Bocce semifinals, Amity Hall after.

    • Updated vscode.
    • Baked spinach wraps into tortilla chips for the garlic sweet potato hummus from yesterday.
    • Living room air filter replacement light came on. It’s been 4 months (should be ~8).
    • Replied to 8sleep with pictures of the leak. The puncture is at the seam.
    • More dentist research.
    • Ducati.
      • Prepped the 7500 maintenance. Odo 7k right now.
      • Checked VIN for recalls, side stand, electric fan, idling, safety sensors, lighting, horn, levels, pedals, shock seals, chain sliders, fuel lines, hoses, wires.
      • Checked/tightened fasteners: clutch cover bolts and clutch protection cover bolts, brake caliper bolts and brake disc flange screws, front/rear wheel nuts, front/rear sprocket nuts, frame-to-engine fasteners. Wrote a picture guide for this so it will be very easy in the future.
      • Filled tires.
      • Main ops, will do one every few days over the next few weeks: replace brake pads+rotors, bleed, top off clutch fluid and coolant, change oil+filter, change air filter, wash bike, change battery, inspect (maybe replace) chain.
      • Will do DDS2 read/reset after indicator comes on in 500mi.
      • Put the 2024 registration on the plate.
    • Manhattan parking tax.
      • Everyone is subject to 18.375%. You may reduce this by 8% (to 10%) if your primary residence is in manhattan.
      • I applied and got this exemption.
      • You go online to file it with the garage.
